Source decomposition of the frontocentral auditory steady?state gamma band response in schizophrenia patients and healthy subjects

چکیده

Aim Gamma-band auditory steady-state response (ASSR) is a neurophysiologic index that increasingly used as translational biomarker in the development of treatments neuropsychiatric disorders. While gamma-band ASSR generated by distributed networks highly interactive temporal and frontal cortical sources, majority human studies using electroencephalography (EEG) highlight activity from only single frontocentral scalp site, Fz, where responses tend to be largest reductions schizophrenia patients are most evident. However, no previous study has characterized relative source contributions which necessary step improve concordance preclinical clinical EEG studies. Methods A novel method back-project independent components was applied assess sources their proportional Fz well source-resolved 432 294 healthy subjects. Results Independent were detected orbitofrontal, bilateral superior/middle/inferior temporal, middle frontal, posterior cingulate gyri both groups. In contrast expectations, groups showed comparable contribution weight at Fz. present consistent with studies, group differences individual source-level detected. Conclusion Small multiple summate produce scalp-level The identification sensor represents promising methodology for measuring dissociable homologous targets future

MEG gamma band activity in schizophrenia patients and healthy subjects in a mental arithmetic task and at rest.

OBJECTIVES High frequency oscillations have been suggested as a correlate of cognitive processes and have recently also been implicated in aberrant forms of information processing. The present study investigated whether magnetoencephalographic (MEG) gamma band activity (20-71 Hz) can serve as an index of cognitive processes in the absence of external stimulation and to what extent gamma activit...

Is gamma band EEG synchronization reduced during auditory driving in schizophrenia patients with auditory verbal hallucinations?

Auditory verbal hallucinations (AVH) in schizophrenia patients assumingly result from a state inadequate activation of the primary auditory system. We tested brain responsiveness to auditory stimulation in healthy controls (n=26), and in schizophrenia patients that frequently (n=18) or never (n=11) experienced AVH. Responsiveness was assessed by driving the EEG with click-tones at 20, 30 and 40...

Auditory evoked gamma band potential in normal subjects.

The gamma band response (GBR) is a predominantly exogenous, sinusoidal evoked response that occurs usually between 20 and 130 msec following stimulus onset. This response is believed to represent the synchronization of neuronal assemblies that serve auditory feature integration. The objective of the present investigation was to describe the characteristics of the scalp-recorded auditory evoked ...
